DBOX 2 most asked questions

What power connection/lead has the DBox 2?

.

The DBOX was developed for the German Market so it will come with a German Plug.

If you want to use the Dbox in your country you will either need an Adapter or cut the old Plug of and replace with a power plug suitable for the country of your residence.

The Nokia Cable is fixed and cannot be unplugged

The Sagem/Phillips Cable can be unplugged

Why does the Dbox2 have 2 Card Reader Slot's and does it need a card?

No, the Dbox does not need a card to to enable you to watch FTA.

The bottom/left Card reader is for German/Austrian Pay TV Cards.

The Top/right was officially never used  and can be used in Sat Boxes when you install a so called Multicam.

The Multicam might not be legal to use with your local Pay TV Provider.

Why do I not get the Dbox TV Picture on a cable Box via the Antenna out ?

.

The Dbox2 does NOT support a TV out via the Antenna Output. This output is only a loop-trough for the analog cable tv channels that are still used in Germany.

The TV signal is only on the Scart socket.

If you need a RF output you will need to buy a so called RF-Modulator.

You can use Scart->Phono or Scart->SVHS Adaptors.

What Antenna Connection has the Cable/Sat Dbox ?

.

The Cable DBox was developed for the German market so it will come with a female Antenna in so you will either need a F-Type to Male Converter or you get a Splitter and make yourself a Cable with a Male connector.

The Sat Version of the DBox comes with a so called F-Plug connector and has a output for a 2nd analog sat receiver.

I want to connect my DBox 2 via the 3 Phono/RCA outputs on the Back of the Dbox but I only get sound and no Picture. Can you help?

.

The 3rd (Top) Phono socket is not for Video, it is to control a VCR. This is a very old method and no longer used. If you need a RCA/Phono connection you will need to buy a Scart-Phono or even a Scart-SVHS Converter.

How do I get my Dbox into debug mode?

Please have a read here on how to get your Box into Debug mode.

My DBox is now in Debug Mode, is there anything I should backup ?

If you managed to get your DBox into Debug mode you must save your UCodes and your AVIA's from your original Betanova software.

I am still unsure about this Debug Mode as when my Box boots up it does show the numbers on the LCD but then shows “Premiere” or “Bitte warten/Please Wait” or “Einen Moment Bitte/One Moment Please” or even “Fehler 04/Error 04”

The Dbox is in Debug mode but still has the original Betanova OS is on it and now needs erasing. You can just use Image Flashing Assistant or DBox Bootmanager. (please remember to backup your Ucodes and Avias)

Error 04 is that your Betanova Software cannot receive any Software Updates via Cable/Sat and this is normal if you use it in another country than Germany depending on the Sat/Provider you are using.

My Box is already in Debug Mode (Neutrino or Enigma) and I want to connect to it via my PC but how do I know the network details of the DBOX?

.

Press the Dbox Key on the remote(TV key on some old ones) and choose option 4 Settings/Einstellungen and then Network/Netzwerk.

You can then see the IP of the Box or modify it.

Important is that you confirm the settings within that menu (Above DHCP) and then go back/zurueck and press the red key to save these Settings.

Please look here for Windows XP Configuration example or here for some wiring example

I have now a Image on my Dbox but everything is in German?

Please read here on how to obtain a new english.locale file for your Dbox. FTP over and restart then press Dbox Key or TV key on some old remotes. Choose 4 Einstellungen then Sprache, then deutsch, press OK and choose english. Go back via home button and press red to save this setting.

Will I need a different Image for different cable/sat providers?

No, the Images are always the same, the difference are the so called Services Files.

How can I find out how many Flashchips my Box has?

Please read this here and compare the photos to your DBox. You might need to open your Box

More Details about the Flashchips are here. Newer Images also have an Option within the Menu for this. Press the Dbox Key, choose Service, choose Image Information and the press the green Button.

How can I open my Box ?

The screws on the Back of a Nokia / Sagem Box are called Torx. You can use a flat headed screwdriver to open the 3 back screws.

The Nokia has another set of screws on each side. These are so called security screws with a pin in the middle.

You can buy a set of screwdrivers for these or just use a flat headed screwdriver again to open the Box.

Worst case scenario, you suspect a Hardware error and how can someone help to diagnose this fault ?

Please read here on how to obtain a so called Bootlog from your DBox.
